Cultch Cur­ator in Res­id­ence, Cris Derksen brings a diverse and excit­ing series of shows to The Cultch this spring

The Cultch’s Cur­at­ors in Res­id­ence Pro­gram is a new ini­ti­at­ive that offers space in the newly-​​built Van­City Cul­ture Lab to young, emer­ging pro­fes­sional artists in Van­couver for cre­ation, exper­i­ment­a­tion and per­form­ance. Cris Derksen is the Cur­ator in Res­id­ence for April, May and June.

Her first offer­ing, on April 25^th, will use the intim­acy of the Van­City Cul­ture lab to its full effect, pair­ing two of Vancouver’s lushest indie bands, Light­ning Dust and Chris­topher Smith and the Beckon Call, with a string quar­tet. Derksen and local com­poser Lucas Schuller will share the duties of arran­ging Light­ning Dust and Chris­topher Smith and the Beckon Call’s songs for the quar­tet, accen­tu­at­ing the under­stated beauty of the bands’ oeuvre.
